چکیده
Sarcopoterium spinosum (L.) is a medicinal plant traditionally used for the treatment of various diseases including cancer in Near- and Middle East. The fractions constituents ethanol extract S. were screened vitro cytotoxic activities on Jurkat (acute T-lymphoblastic leukemia), HeLa (cervical adenocarcinoma), MCF-7 (mammary gland Caco-2 (human colorectal MDA-MB-231 adenocarcinoma) cell lines using MTT (3-(dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay. was subsequently re-extracted with ethyl acetate its sub-fraction obtained by column chromatography three compounds (stachydrine, benzalkonium chloride rutine) first time identified nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses. most active subfraction showed activity against HeLa, MCF-7, lines. mentioned, as standards high-performance liquid (HPLC) quality, studied individually combination. Cytotoxic observed might be due to presence rutin. Benzalkonium strongest growth suppression effect cells (IC50 8.10−7 M) 5.10−6 M). mixture stachydrine allowed synergistic all tested normal obtained. Anti-cancer remains under-investigated, so this research describes how major can exert significant dose dependent cytotoxicity.

Anti-diabetic activity of aerial parts of Sarcopoterium spinosum
BACKGROUND Sarcopoterium spinosum (S. spinosum) is used by Bedouin medicinal practitioners for the treatment of diabetes. While the anti-diabetic activity of S. spinosum root extract was validated in previous studies, the activity of aerial parts of the same plants has not been elucidated yet. The aim of this study was to clarify the glucose lowering properties of the aerial parts of the shrub....

متن کاملOptimization of hairy root induction in chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) and effects of nanoparticles on secondary metabolites accumulation
Hairy root culture is an effective method to produce secondary metabolites. In fact, hairy roots are genetically and biologically stable and also they are able to produce metabolites without hormones. Chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) is one of the most important medicinal plants with valuable medicinal compounds. In this research, hairy roots were induced by different Agrobacterium rhizogenes str...
